Samantha
My name is Samantha. I am 26 years old and have lived in San Antonio since 2015. In 2019 I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelors in Politics and Law and a Bachelors in English. I currently work as a paralegal at a general practice law firm in San Antonio. I spend most of my free time doing volunteer work or snuggling my two dogs at home.
The idea for Think Twice San Antonio came to me at the start of 2022. I used my own money to place the first order of 25 breathalyzers on March 5, 2022, only with the intention of handing them out to friends and family. As I explored the idea more and reached out to those in my community, Think Twice became what it is today: a small, quickly growing organization with hopes to eventually become a non-profit that serves San Antonio and the surrounding communities (still mostly funded by the co-founders and their day-jobs as of 2023).
I hope that Think Twice can tackle the issue of drunk driving from a preventative perspective by providing a reminder to 21+ drivers that they can carry with them, whether it be a mobile breathalyzer keychain or some other form of reminder. I recognize this is different from other efforts to confront the issue and I think different can be good. The response we've received so far has been exciting and motivating.
The more individuals we can reach with our mission, the better chances we all have of making a change in the general public. If we can encourage even one person to think twice before getting behind the wheel after drinking, I will be grateful we have succeeded.
