Danica

Hailing from Seguin, Texas, Danica R. McKinney is a 2010 graduate of Huston-Tillotson University. During her time at HT, Danica served as President of the Pre-Alumni Council; a member of the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge team — an organization she still volunteers her time with today; and served as both Miss UNCF and Miss Huston-Tillotson University (2009-2010). It was also during her time at HT that Danica became a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in English and Sociology, Danica served as an Administrator for UCG-Central Texas, a living facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities. It was during her time serving this unique population that Danica decided to enroll in law school, choosing to attend St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. While there, Danica participated as a member of the Alternate Dispute Resolution team, served as Treasurer of the Law Society for Sports, Entertainment, and Music, and as President of the Black Law Students Association. During her second-year, Danica chose to enroll in an additional graduate studies program, obtaining her Master’s degree in Theology concurrently with her Juris Doctor. Among her personal and scholastic accomplishments, Danica is most proud of becoming the inaugural recipient of the National Association of Female Judges’ ‘Future of Justice’ award.

Danica recently transitioned from her position as Staff Attorney for the Bexar County Civil District Courts, assisting the 14 Civil District Judges, as well as Bexar County residents representing themselves. She now serves as an associate attorney with Rosenblatt Law Firm. Danica is active within the San Antonio community as a Board Member of the Wonder Theatre (formerly Woodlawn Theatre), Curtain Up Cancer Foundation (Secretary), Bexar County Women’s Bar Association, and as the current President of the San Antonio Black Lawyers Association. Danica also serves as an adjunct professor at St. Mary’s University School of Law, coaching the Alternate Dispute Resolution team of St. Mary’s National Team.

In her free time, Danica enjoys spending time with her family and pets, performing within the Central Texas Theatre Community, and serving with her church family through praise and worship.
